28 days of in-home postnatal care following Caesarean birth
What’s included
The first 7 days
For the first week, I will visit daily for up to four hours, offering unhurried, responsive support in your home.
Support may include:
- Individualised feeding support, including positions that protect your wound and support comfort
- Preparing nourishing meals and snacks
- Caring for and holding your baby while you rest or sleep
- Taking your baby out for gentle walks
- Support with household tasks such as washing, tidying and light cleaning
- Space to talk through your birth experience, if and when you feel ready
Alongside this, I will provide midwifery-led clinical care, including:
- Caesarean wound checks and care
- Administering blood-thinning injections
- Ongoing wellbeing checks for you and your baby
- Baby weighing and feeding assessment
- Newborn blood spot test
- NIPE (Newborn and Infant Physical Examination)
- A postnatal check-up, as appropriate
Ongoing support over the following 3 weeks
After the first week, care continues with regular follow-up appointments over the next three weeks, spaced to reflect your needs and recovery.
These visits offer continuity and reassurance, with time for:
- Ongoing feeding support
- Monitoring your physical recovery
- Baby growth and wellbeing checks
- Emotional well-being support
- Gentle guidance as you move towards greater independence and confidence in caring for your baby
